ACADEMY U8/U9/U10
"At the Gusher United Academy Program our mission is provide an environment where players can develop an intrinsic awareness of their own skill level and strive to push themselves as an individual. We believe that a players self awareness coupled with professional training is the perfect environment to prepare players for a higher level of soccer once they graduate from the Academy program."
The Academy program is a player development based program where players of all abilities are invited to sign up, once signed up players are required to attend practice twice a week under the instruction of a Gusher United professional trainer. Players will be developed through the Academy program according to the Academy Curriculum.
This is a year-round program. Training begins in August and ends in May, the program has a christmas break at the end of December and starts back up at the end of January, when you sign up for our Academy program you are expected to commit to the entire year and train twice a week.
TRAINING
Academy players train twice a week from 5:30-7:00pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings on fields Lower 1&2 at the Cris Quinn Soccer Complex. Players are expected to bring an inflated ball, a form of hydration and finally to turn up 10 minutes early to every practice with a willingness to learn and play.
Training consists of a "pool" environment where players are split into groups at the beginning of each session, this means that they may not be placed with their peers. The groups are split depending of their gender, ability and age. Each group will then have one of our professional trainers to conduct their 90 minute session which follows the clubs curriculum
GAMES
Academy games are run differently to recreational games in a number of ways, here are the changes that will take place starting Spring 2013:
1. There are no teams in the Academy program. Games are organized by splitting players up into teams on game day according to their gender, ability and age.
2. Each game will have a minimum of one professional trainer covering each field. The job of the trainer is to aid the players development.
3. There are no parents or managers on the players sideline other than the trainer.
4. The only time teams will be formed is for tournaments.
5. There will be no standings or scores kept at any time during the season. Player development is the focus.
